Priest (Author) Character Lower Bracket
[“Anti-propaganda” is not allowed. Please only give reasons to vote FOR a character, and please be courteous in the notes.]
Chu Huan from Of Mountains and Rivers / Shan He Biao Li
Submission:
His vibes are insane. A character pipi made by putting Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu in a jar and shaking, and then wrapping the result in the most unassuming shell possible. That one post that went like "perfectly normal man that has something seriously wrong with him" might as well have been made about him. Kills like 20 ppl in his introduction scene, falls off a cliff, gets on a bus, and agrees to become a teacher for those random guys he met because one of them is hot. Speaking of, his bi awakening and accepting it happens in a span of like, one second. *Sees a hot guy* welp, homosexual attraction is not a sin! Also, somehow has perfect tumblr shitposter vibes. Was asked what's a word for "good brother" in his language and after careful consideration said "bitch". Did I mention he's insane? "Play me a tune, and I'll go along with your BDSM play." Or that time he woke up after being clinically dead for a bit (saw his deceased loved ones asking him to go into the light and all) and to his bf's frantic questioning of "Does it hurt?" immediately went "Yes. It hurts a lot. You have to kiss it better." like bestie your priorities.... Anyway yeah what a guy.
Tong Ru / Lord Beiming from Liu Yao: The Revitalization of Fuyao Sect
“Beiming? Who deserves the title of Beiming? That’s merely an arrogant title given by some short-sighted people.” - Lord Beiming, Liu Yao: The Revitalization of Fuyao Sect, Chapter 16
[No propaganda submitted]
“It’s just death, nothing serious.” - Lord Beiming, ch.30
***I, the poll runner, have not gotten to the Lord Beiming reveal, so I’m not 100% sure the quotes from where I’m at are correct/for the same person (since there’s another person trying to claim the title of Lord Beiming)
(Also, Tong Ru and Han Muchun are sharing a picture because it’s way too blurry with just one lol)
Mu Xiaoqiao from Bandits / You Fei / Legend of Fei
Submission:
"People tended to apply the highest of standards when judging the behavior of revered saints like the Sword of Mountains and Rivers: if they made even the smallest of missteps, they would be deemed unworthy of their sterling reputations, and be lambasted for hypocrisy. But people were much more magnanimous towards Mu Xiaoqiao and those of his vile ilk, for as long as these fiends didn’t go around killing everyone in sight…or as long as this violence was directed at others instead, they could sometimes even find something perversely charming about these villains." (Bandits, book 3, chapter 13) Callout for who? Callout for me. Pipi is very right about this but also she is the one writing her murderous gays so epic and sexy and fascinating and irresistible and…

Drama Gossip: Douluo Continent (斗罗大陆)
Source: Google Images
Having lost his mother at a very young age, Tang San grew up relying on his father just as much as his father relied upon him. Meticulous and mature for his age, with extraordinary talent and wit, he was sent to Nuoding Academy at the age of sixteen to begin pursuing his dream of becoming a great soul master. There, under the tutelage of Yu Xiao Gang, he befriends an orphan by the name of Xiao Wu, and together they begin the long and difficult journey of cultivation. As time passes, the two friends draw ever closer, eventually swearing to look out for each other as siblings for life.
As their power and connection grow, Yu Xiao Gang realizes they need more guidance than he can provide. Sending the pair to the Shrek Academy, Tang San and Xiao Wu join five other prodigies from various academies in their journey of cultivation. Strong in their power, the seven students become known throughout the land as the “Shrek Seven Devils”. With their fame ever-growing, the talents of the Seven are eventually noticed by a few very prominent nobles who invite them to continue their cultivation at the esteemed Tian Dou Royal Academy.
Not long after accepting the invitation, the Seven Devils find themselves caught up in an imperial struggle for power between the first and fourth princes. At the same time, Tang San uncovers a long-hidden secret about his mother’s death. Suddenly facing battles on many fronts, Tang San finds himself forced to fight, not only to protect those he loves but to bring honor to his sect, save his country, and complete his quest to become the greatest soul master of all time.

It's Just So Good, Ya'know?
In spite of being a Xiao Zhan fan, I don't love a lot of his dramas. Douluo Continent though, that is one of the few I truly enjoy. This is a rewatch and the parts that irritated me, I still don't like but the parts that I like, I still enjoy.
The biggest problem with this drama is the pacing. This is me being nice but oh boy, the pacing is all over the place with Douluo Continent. Also, I am just not a big fan of the romance in this show. Don't get me wrong, I love Zhu Zhu Qing and Dai Mu Bai's relationship, I had hoped to get more from them. The other two couples among the Seven Devils are quite cute but sometimes really redundant. Especially the many scenes of Xiao Wu and Tang San. I get it, but I did not watch this show for their romance, it's average at best.
That being said, lets talk about the show itself. Fantastical wuxia dramas without long melodramatic or constant betrayal scenes are my favourite. The storyline, the world, the characters, the action, Douluo Continent really is entertaining to watch. A downside? For a show focusing on people's powers and abilities to fight, there is a severe lack of action scenes. Sometimes, I just want the fight scene to drag on or show me more action rather than slow motion scenes of anyone being attacked and falling backwards.
Every time I watch Douluo Continent, I get the urge to watch the animation as well. Unfortunately, the animation is not it for me. So until the second instalment comes out, I really don't think I will consume any content of Douluo Continent except for this drama. A pity, really.
Rating: ★★★★☆

We lost both Sun Lang and Qian Zhao in one episode 😭And Yu Shi San having to fight and lose his brothers and look after the others with the belief that there will be no help from Ning Yuan Zhou since Yu Shi San saw the post about Ren Ru Yi's "death" and knew that NYZ would follow her in death.
No! Yu Shi San sent Yuan Lu away from the frontline to be the messenger so he won't be in danger yet he still died!
Also to think of what is going on at the frontline of them having to hold for Yuan Lu's journey and then the 3 days while Li Tong Guang and Yang Ying were under house arrest and all the freaking romance mess. Like seriously people are dying here!!
Also my mom is just so annoyed and mad that while his brothers of Six Realms Hall are fighting and dying left and right, Ning Yuan Zhou is just focused on romance. And you know what, after the pause for their impromptu wedding, I'd agreed. Yuan Lu did not run with all his strength to death to deliver frontline news and ask for support for no immediate reaction, especially from his precious Ning Da Ge, and the man didn't even know his brothers died until later.
At the same time though, the multi-shipping in this drama for me is crazy! But I definitely like the subtleties of all the side pairings more.

i talked to my friends about this already but just...thinking about how han muchun became the paternal figure that his disciples needed the most, how cheng qian didn't get to experience a normal childhood and had to grow up too fast because of his family's circumstances and how han muchun treated him with kindness and affection he hadn't known before, even spoiled him a little bit and that slowly made him let go of anger and resentment
and about how han yuan tried so hard to impress him at the start, because he wanted to prove he deserved being part of the sect and he was probably afraid that the man who had been the first to care for him after living a vagabond life would regret it
and that despite not knowing the details of why yan zhengming ran away from home, we can be sure that han muchun offered him something that his parents couldn't, something that all their money and luxuries couldn't buy
and how even though li yun's backstory is a mystery, we don't need to know it to know that it was thanks to han muchun that he found his home too
he was also the only father shuikeng ever knew and that even with a different appearance, she would recognize him because he's safety and family to her
just...how much his kindness changed their lives

Cheng Qian from Liu Yao: The Revitalization of Fuyao Sect

Sassy child who cares about his found family/sect SO much
The “meanie” from the description - “A cultivation story about how a declining sect is restored by a narcissist, troublemaker, meanie, idiot, and wimpy kid.”
“No matter how many foes, they cannot bend my will.” - Cheng Qian, ch.29
"He believed that when he was alone, he could do anything all by himself. For a lone person, when he reaches the peak of his achievement, he's still alone; when he falls to the depths of the abyss, too, he's still alone. Even if his head were to fall from his shoulders, wouldn't that just be a scar on his body? What was there to fear?" - Ch. 36
